Rainy. Here is an original telephoto that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 12 October 1965. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #2302, #2547, #2529, and #2324. All are rated at 2,500 horsepower. #2302 is an EF-25 built by GM-EMD in November of 1964. #2547 and #2529 are GF-25's built by General Electric; #2547 was built in March of 1965, but #2529 was built in September of 1964. #2324 is an EF-25 built by GM-EMD in January of 1965. They've come down the East Slope of the Allegheny Mountains with a 117-car merchandise freight and will soon pass under the 7th Street Bridge on their way to the Enola Yards. (#15 of 21)

Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #2302, #2501, and two more units whose road numbers are not recorded. #2302 is an EF-22 built by GM-EMD in November of 1964 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. #2501 is a GF-25 built by General Electric in August of 1962 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. Shown here are PRR engines #2250, #2305, and three other units whose numbers are not visible. #2250 is an EF-22 built by EMD in 1963 anX rated at 2,250 horsepower. #2305 is an EF-25 built by EMD in 1964 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. They are pulling a 128-car eastbound mixed-cargo freight train with N-8 caboose #478125. Wave to the engineer! As of 04 July 2016, or 51 years later, #2250 ~ now numbered "2198" ~ is in active excursion service with the New Hope & Ivyland Railroad in New Hope, Pennsylvania.

All were built by EMD. #2225 and #2230 are EF-22's built in 1963 and rated at 2,250 horsepower each. #2309 is an EF-25 built in 1964 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. They will soon pass under the 24th Street Bridge with a 98-car iron-ore train on their way up the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin and points West. Bringing-up the rear are five ALCo "pushers" (namely, #8673, #8664, #8676, #8661, and #8669) plus N-8 caboose #478124.

Shown here (R to L) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #2355 and another unit whose road number is not recorded. Both were built by GM-EMD. #2355 is an EF-25 built in March of 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. They're pulling an eastbound coal train under the wrought-iron 12th Street Footbridge. 7th Street. Here is an original telephoto view that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad trains in Altoona, Pennsylvania, during March of 1966. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #2356, #2530, and another unit whose number is not recorded. #2356 is an EF-25 built by EMD in 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. #2530 is a GF-25 built by General Electrwc in 1964 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. They are passing under the 7th Street Bridge with a merchandise freight train on their way to Enola and points East. Visible in thd center distance, beyond the Bridge, are some of the PRR's 12th Street Shop buildings. This photo taken from the 4th Street Bridge.

Brickyard. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad trains at the Brickyard Crossing in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 18 July 1965. On the right (R to L) are PRR engines #6307 and #6302. Both are AF-27's built by the American Locomotive Company during 1965 and rated at 2,700 horsepower each. They are pushing a 68-car westbound mixed-cargo freight train up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West. On the left (R to L) are PRR engines #2357, #2535, #7112, and #7033. #2357 is an EF-25 built by EMD in 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. They are pulling ~ or, rather, braking ~ an 83-car eastbound mixed-cargo freight train with caboose #477031. That's the Brickyard Crossing in the foreground!

Boulton. Here is an original photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, in August of 1967. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #2361, #2606, and another unit whose road number is not recorded. #2361 is an EF-25 built by GM-EMD in March of 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. #2606 is a GF-25 built by General Electric as number "2506" in August of 1962, rated at 2,500 horsepower, and renumbered "2606" in preparation for the PRR-NYC merger. In this context, they're just entering the Curve with a "high-&-wide load" consist that's on its way up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West. Visible at the far right is a portion of four-track Signal Bridge #2416.

Shown here on Track 1 (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #2367, #2404, and another unit whose road number is not recorded. #2367 is an EF-25 built by GM-EMD in April of 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. #2404 is an AF-24 built by the American Locomotive Company in October of 1962 and rated at 2,400 horsepower. They're rounding the Curve with a fully-loaded mineral train on its way down the Allegheny Mountains to the Eastbound Receiving Yard in Altoona. Note the returning pushers on Track 2. (#34 of 39)
